Southern region known for its rural nature

This region of Arkansas is also referred to as the Piney Woods region of the state because of its rural nature and miles and miles of forestland. In the 20s, towns like El Dorado and Smackover was oil boomtowns. The legendary H.L. Hunt got started by “wildcatting” in South Arkansas.
