Southwest Florida one of the most popular for retirees

One of the most popular retirement destinations in Florida is the Naples/Marco Island region. Miles of pristine beaches collide with incredible affluence, arts, shops and restaurants to form one of America’s most luxurious retirement havens.

Housing prices are healthy in this area, but so are the community amenities. Naples has some of the most exciting cultural scenes around. For instance, the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, home to Naples Philharmonic and Miami City Ballet join the well-regarded adjacent Naples Museum of Art and the downtown Sugden Theatre to entertain residents and visitors alike. And, we haven’t started talking about the numerous galleries that dot the city.

Protecting the environment is a full time avocation for residents in the area. A number of nature sanctuaries are located in SW Florida. Not surprisingly, the Everglades are located in this area.

If you enjoy fish - catching them or eating them - you’ve come to the right place. Markets provide fresh “off the boat” offerings...if you want to try your luck at landing tonight’s dinner, fishing charters are readily available.

The sands on the four miles of beach on Marco Island lure many to visit or relocate. Resorts are gold-plated. The full-time citizenry has some of the highest wealth levels in the state. Outdoor activities like fishing, sunbathing, bird-watching and golfing are among the best in the country.

A distinct Carribean Island atmosphere permeates the Island. Looking for a full-time vacation? Perhaps Marco Island is your special spot.

One of the other special, and more affordable, spots in Florida is Bonita Springs, a quaint fishing village with a renovated downtown and a great waterfront. Great outdoor activities make this community of 40,000 a great town to consider.
